Planning a puppy shower is a fun way to welcome a new family pet. You don’t have to go all out, a few cute decorations will make for a fun and simple puppy party. Use items that you already have on hand coupled with dog themed scrapbook paper, and a few inexpensive toys picked up here and there. Go with favorite colors and just like a baby shower use items that can actually be reused once the party is over.
You could also incorporate these simple ideas into a puppy birthday party. They don’t have to be big productions just a few simple things to make the new owner and pup feel welcome. Have fun with it, and feel free to be creative and silly. :)
Decoration Ideas:
Puppy Piddle Pad Cake-
One of my favorite baby shower decorations is the popular diaper cake. So I figured why not make a Puppy Pad Cake? A cute and useful centerpiece for our little puppy shower. I used piddle pads, dog toys and treats. Collars, leashes, outfits, doggy barrettes, etc. also make great decorations and filler for your cake.
Supplies Needed:
- 8 piddle pads
- Round cake/pizza pan (Tip: Dollar Tree is only $1!)
- 2” ribbon
- 3/4” ribbon
- hot glue gun and glue sticks (optional)
- dog themed stickers
- dog food can
- rubber bands
- Items to decorate and fill cake- squeak toys, dog treats, etc.
Instructions:
- Roll folded puppy piddle pads ( I used 8).
- Secure each rolled puppy pad with a rubber band.
- Place dog food can on cake/pizza pan. (Optional: For added security, you can hot glue the can down to the cake pan.)
- Circle can with rolled pads, secure all with another large rubber band.
- Wrap with ribbon and decorate with stickers, dog toys, treats, etc. Use your imagination! :)
Decorative cans-
Wrap clean, empty cans in scrapbook paper, add accent dog themed stickers. Here I cut a paw print out of card stock and taped it to a wooden skewer to create a little decoration in my can filled with shredded newspaper.
More Decor Ideas:
Use paw prints, bones, newspaper as your general theme and decorations to set the mood of your puppy party.
Puppy Party Food Ideas:
Serve people and pet snacks in clean doggie bowls (you can find inexpensive ones at Walmart and also Dollar Tree), be sure and provide fresh bowls of water for the furry guests. Use larger bowls with ice for bottles of water and other refreshments for your people guests.
Make a batch of our pupcakes here to serve to your furry guests. You can also serve some of our awesome homemade dog treat recipes like: Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats, Turkey Meatball Dog Treats, Sweet Potato Chews Dog Treats, and so many more options for your four legged friends.
